It's December 26th and it's Christmas already. 

If you need a Christmas miracle, it's to me more precisely to all of us -to Ukrainians. We are currently creating a real miracle. No one in the world believed that we could withstand where Russian onslaught. Western experts gave us three to four days when it would be all over -defeat and the destruction of the state. Complex computer programs predicting the course of military actions. Promised that we would lose Odessa, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv in the first hours of invasion, and after that the Ukrainian army would only face loss of control, disintegration and capitulation. 

But none of what happened. Ukraine stood its ground, Ukraine governed strength and resisted, and we in itself is a true miracle. We did not fall, did not surrender, did not give up resistance even in the face of the cruelest and most cunning enemy in the modern world. For almost two years now, we've sustained the resistance that experts predicted would last a maximum of two weeks. 

You know the meaning of Christmas in war is felt very keenly. What is Christmas from a Christian perspective? It's the birth of a new meaning in the world. The emergence of true light that brings joy and salvation to all who stand beside that light. It's not easy; there is often something hindering and distracting. There is always the temptation to say, but this is not the real light, but it shines somehow wrong. 

And Ukraine goes through almost the same. Our struggle gives people hope. A belief with courage and understanding of how unrighteousness can dispel even the gloomiest darkness. Ukraine shows everyone that salvation is possible. Salvation from tyranny, from slavery, from subjugation and oppression. Yes, the price for this salvation is very high- thousands and thousands maimed, dead, widowed, or orphaned. But if we don't resist, everyone will end up either maimed, dead, widowed or orphaned. So nothing is in vain and everything is possible. 

Of course, there are many unbelievers in our cause, many who are more willing to support the stronger, those who already to celebrate and shout "crucify him" when Russian occupiers siezed our cities and killed our people. But the light will overcome even this dull and cruel people who have chosen faith in violence and death. 

Ukraine works miracles every day, miracles of truly biblical proportions. Despite all predictions, Ukraine continues to destroy evil and bring light to people. With Ukraine, there is salvation. Salvation from fear and pain. Honest people understand this and bring gifts to Ukraine just as wise and honest Magi did to thousand years ago, bringing gifts to baby Jesus. Your gifts are rockets and tanks by the armor and cars, shells and first aid kits. We thank you for them and we will never forget your participation in our struggle.
